This project set out to strengthen the client’s connection to a plot defined by sweeping views, natural beauty, and a deep affinity for the outdoors. The brief was simple but ambitious: create a family home that offers the warmth and shelter of traditional agricultural buildings, while embracing a modern architectural expression that celebrates the landscape.

The result is a contemporary interpretation of the rural barn—bold in form, purposeful in materiality, and firmly rooted in the character of the area. A solid concrete base grounds the building with a sense of permanence, while the metal-clad upper level references the agricultural structures that define the local vernacular.

Connection to the landscape was essential. The journey through the home is shaped by carefully framed glimpses of the countryside, gradually revealing the full panorama as you ascend. An upside-down living arrangement places the main living spaces on the upper floor, ensuring uninterrupted views and generous natural light throughout the day.

The open-plan kitchen and living space extends outward toward the fields, dissolving the threshold between inside and out. The external spaces have been designed as a natural continuation of the interior—inviting, uplifting, and deeply connected to the surrounding environment.
